Britannia Conference in Iceland

Last weekend we were at the annual Britannia Conference in Reykjavik, Iceland. The land of fire and ice, we had a great weekend of business meetings, catching up with old friends and snowmobiling. Known as ‘the little capital with the big heart’ Reykjavik is home to just 120,000 people. But don’t let the small population fool you, the capital is famous for its energy, vibrancy and great nightlife. We touched down on Friday evening and made our way to the hotel where we were welcomed with the traditional Icelandic drink Brennivin – also known as black death! We then caught up with friends before sitting down to enjoy an ‘unusual’ but traditional Icelandic meal. All we can say is that it was very interesting! Day 2 was all about getting down to business. This years overriding theme was ‘change’. We broke for lunch at the hotel before getting back to work for an afternoon of presentations, celebrating the achievements of many Britannia members. The final day of the conference was excursions day and a chance for us to see Iceland. After a hearty breakfast we put on our warmest clothes and set off in a 8 x 8 truck to go glacier snowmobiling. We then went on a volcanic tour and witnessed some beautiful volcanic geysers. After all that excitement we headed back to the hotel for the Britannia Conference closing party....
